Spirituality

One word- many interpretation, each serving the purpose of the interpreter. So lets contribute one more interpretation to this word.

Lets start by exploring what Spirituality is not.

It is not connected to religion nor is a search of some externalities in life. It is neither a state, nor a stage in life. There are no eligibility or reservations of any specific set of groups on it.

Spirituality is a way of life. Its a lifestyle. A change in the mindset of the individual. A change of heart. A process, a journey just like the life itself is.

Don’t pollute the word by giving it a specific meaning. Many people call themselves Spiritual but have never pondered over “the truth.” The general public has made it a kind of possession that is handed over to another person through a ritual called initiation.

There is a tradition practiced in many parts of the world where elders initiate the newborn once they reach a specific age group, according to their cultural custom. This newborn is brought up in an environment of dos and don’ts, right & wrong, causing them to lose the capacity to “think.” All ideas are superimposed from childhood, imprisoning the mind of the child for whole life. Their mental capacity becomes incapable of accepting anything beyond those old beliefs and customs, and hence they die Spiritually (according to them only).

True Spirituality transcends rituals. It is not something that can be given or taken away by others. It is an individual’s personal journey, a deeply intimate exploration of one’s inner self and connection to the universe.
